Update to 5.6.2.1 Failure
Permalink
Hi,
I just tried to update my site from 5.6.1.2 to 5.6.2.1. It would not download via the browser for me, so I downloaded manually and created the /update/concrete5.6.2.1_updater folder. All good so far. The system showed that 5.6.2.1 was available to install. I clicked INSTALL and waited, and waited and... etc. After about 40 minutes. I killed the browser session and logged back in. Now the system shows currently running 5.6.1.2 and NO UPDATES are available. OK... what the heck? Where did the update go and why can't I see it anymore.
Thanks for help!
Frank
Progress Update... I made it worse! I triedhttp://www.securityus.com/index.php?/tools/required/update... and now the site is dead as a rock! I really need some help on this one folks!

Hi,
Yes, the updates folder is there. I did upload to concrete5.6.2.1_updater folder. The system saw that and I clicked to start the update. The update failed and now it says there are no updates available at all for 5.6.1.2 ... and it throws an error at the page footer for some reason.
One thing I didn't say originally... I have advanced permissions ON in this installation.
Thanks for the reply... I am considering just scrubbing it and starting over. I'd rather not... 8+ hours wasted if I do!

OK! This problem is solved. Let me tell you how!
First, manually FTP upload the update to /updates/concrete5.6.2.1_updater
Then connect via, Telnet, SSH or FTP if needed and delete all the files that begin with sess_ in the /files/tmp directory.
Login to concrete5 and go to Dashboard/System Settings/Update Concrete5 ... the update will be waiting to install.
I clicked Install and it happened perfectly at this point.
I hope that helps someone else... problem had me a little crazy. :-)

In the site root (top level) look for an 'updates' folder, then place the folder 'concrete5.6.2.1_updater' inside.
Then update?
