Updating problems?
I've finally got round to trying to sort my website out, but I am massively outdated it seems; I am using 5.4.1.1 and it's recommending I update to 5.4.2.2.
I am hosting with 1&1 and I've used their easy installation button and installed concrete5 as I quite like the layout and all. I've looked up various forums for how to update but no joy...
I try to automatically update but I get this
The directory /kunden/homepages/16/d473801564/htdocs/app473801526/updates must be writable by the web server.
I have no clue about being 'writable by the server' and I don't know where any of the website files are, I assume they are on the hosting website?
My understanding of web design is pretty basic. So an idiots guide to would be very welcome =)
Cheers, Kyle

You need to change the updates folders to be writable, I assume your on linux hosting so this link should be helpful.
https://help.1and1.com/hosting-c37630/webspace-and-access-c85098/web...
Find the updates folders and changes the permissions to 777
Let me know how you get on.
