updating to a newer version error ! help !

help!
im trying to update my version so i can use the theme i bought but i keep getting this error:
The directory /kunden/homepages/32/d153503348/htdocs/app153718589/updates must be writable by the web server.
if it helps I have version 5.4.1.1 and i am trying to update (its the only one under update in my dashboard) to version 5.4.2.2
can anyone let me know what i do to fix this?
