updating version

Hi, please can someone help me.Any time try to update i receive this error message.'The directory /kunden/homepages/6/d464930445/htdocs/app465779547/updates must be writable by the web server'.
what does this mean?
how can i resolve this?
For the the pass few weeks i have been learning website building from the scratch.I have very little in this field.Thank you in advance.

I am guessing this is a 1&1 account.

You need to use the webspace explorer from your account login, locate the directory, and change the permissions to 755. Or you can do the same using ftp.

Because this is about your hosting account, you could call 1&1 support and ask them to make the change for you.

hi again.thank you.
I called them to change it for me but they said they cant do that.
but they told me to download concrate5 and do it from there.and it is the only way around it.so please help me in this way?
