Upgrade / Change / Install from 5.6 to 5.7
Permalink
Hello!
I am still running my website on version 5.6 and need to switch to version 5.7. I understand there's no way to "upgrade," and that a build from scratch is necessary.
Would the best track be to purchase a second domain name and develop the new site there? Is there a way to install a 5.7 version with the same domain name in the background until ready? Is it possible to run two versions on the same domain?
My hosting company does not specialize in Concrete, so if I am going to make a change now is the time.
Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You can install version 7 (or, better still, 8) in a subdirectory; eg, 'redevelop'. URLs to the new site will have 'redevelop' in them. When you're happy with it, you can relocate it to wherever your current site is. Always keep a backup of your current site in case something goes wrong.
Hello, any instructions available online, or videos? Thanks!
