upgrade did not work
Permalink
Hi guys,
I followed the video to the letter to upgrade and I lost the site completely, in the end it was just much easier to make a fresh install. This wouldn't of been possible if the site was up and running with content loaded and so forth which begs me to ask how am I going to install new upgrades in the future if I couldn't do this one.
Is it possible to pay someone to do this for me and how much would it cost.
Cheers

It seemed straight forward but it never worked for me. My site isn't live yet as I have no content other than the demo version installed. I would like to point out that with this new upgrade I'm finding it difficulty in editing. For example to change the the wording "Elements" to something eg. the name of my site Unique Clocks and keep the the colour green and large fonts isn't possible in this upgrade yet previously I was able to do it. I also find it frustrating that out of no where it just won't allow me to type any text, I can delete texts but can't write. This is a fresh install over a new database so it should be bug free. I'm going to work on it tonight properly and I'll see what I cannot do.

Actually I made a mistake on the editing part I haven't played with this site for a few weeks and I forgot how I did it, I managed to change the title. I'm new to all of this so it's just a learning curve for me, however I am concerned about upgrading. I wouldn't want to lose everything I did, I used to have another site with zencart and I was afraid of upgrading just for the very same reasons and I don't want to be afraid to upgrade anymore.
When you say that the How-To didn't work for you, can you be more specific.
At what step in the How-To did you have an issue?
What version of concrete5 were you using and what version were you attempting to update to?
To become more comfortable with concrete5, I recommend watching this video and the other concrete5 version 7 videos:

After you have watched the videos, I recommend reading through the Editor's Guide:

Thanks for your genuine concern MrKDilkington, the version I had was the one previous to this latest one. I replicated everything that video showed but he never showed how he got that url so I just typed what was on screen. I got an error message of the website not being found. There was no upgrade install like he got.
Thank you for those links I will spend a great deal of time tonight going through them and learning concrete thoroughly. I have to get this website up and running soon, it's not like I'll be getting a flood of people rushing to see it but I believe on my first day of opening there will be as I have a lot of contacts and I'm sure they will come for a visit.
Concrete is a fantastic idea and I'm sure it will be huge if it isn't already.

To better assist, can you include more specific details about your situation.
