Upgrade from 5.4.2.2 to 5.5.1 Problem

Hi,
I have a client running 5.4.1.1 and I would like to upgrade them to the latest version. I started by upgrading 5.4.1.1 to 5.4.2.2 and no issues. When I upgraded to 5.5, the Toolbar lost all icons and links. I can however get to the Dashboard via direct url and the icons and links display. In an attempt to fix this issue, I went ahead and upgraded to 5.5.1... the upgrades are happening but I have no Toolbar (or at least no icons on it) while viewing the site. This makes it really impossible to edit or add pages to the site!
They currently have the Shopping Cart but it is a pre 5.5 version of the Cart... could this be part of the issue? I don't know!
Any help? I could really use it!

I have upgraded the site to 5.6.0 and the symptom is the same... Tried the Plain OEM template, same issue... Finally I started to see the pattern...
Well... it looks like it's the older version of the shopping cart. Any page that has Cart items on it also does not have any toolbar content. The toolbar is working on all the other pages.
My new/extended question is... If I purchase and upgrade the cart will it fix this problem? I'm betting yes but does anyone know for sure?

Have you cleared cache? Both in browser and within C5.
It's difficult to pinpoint what it might be given that every website is different. Maybe it might be worth posting in the Job's board and shelling out a little to get it sorted...
