Upgrade issue

I have clicked on the upgrade button in the dashboard but it filled my hosting (125 Mo). The site is pretty much void now so it shouldn't take much space.

I've then used my ftp client, found that the new files were under update and deleted them.

The trouble is that my site is still way bigger than it was before (117Mo).

I have a backup of the database and the themes I have done by hand.

What is the best option now?
-Reinstall from scratch 5.4.1 and run it with the old database?
-Clean by hand (Where)?
- Overwrite the concrete folder by hand?

OK,

So I have traced that there is a files/tmp folder full of zip files and a concrete 5.4.1 arborescence. I have deleted this, and clicked update again.

It worked.

So far so good. The only thing that I am not happy with is that my website weights 107Mo instead of 36Mo!!!!

Is it safe to delete the files under /update/concrete5.4.1?

No, and it will continue to grow with each update. Basically, an entirely new copy of C5 is installed in the "updates" directory with each update. That has distinct advantages, but an obvious disadvantage is that it eats up disk space.

The only way around it (that I know of) is to manually install C5 into your site root (or wherever it currently resides). If you're not sure how to go about that, I'd advise against it until you thoroughly understand the process and implications.

Alternatively, after future upgrades, you can delete the previous version from the "updates" directory to keep the footprint down. Delete the prior version ONLY once you've successfully upgraded and determined that there are no issues with your site. It's fairly easy to "fall back" to a prior version if it's still in the "updates" directory.

Thank you for the answer.

I think that I need to learn how to share the core, otherwise it will be too dear to host.

I've seen a tutorial but I don't think that it applies to my webhost.

By installing manually, you mean overwriting the /concrete folder?

If I do a clean install of concrete5.4.1 do you know how much it is going to weight?
