upgrade to 5.6 from 5.4 Problems with page list templates

Today I upgraded to the latest version. My old templates went away. I found them but they no longer work. Help with this please. I searched and found problems with templates but no solutions. Why can't my templates stay where they were and keep working. either answer will be a fix for this. These are two changes neither one good!
Hurry please.
