Upgrading 5.4.2.2 to 5.5.2.1

Permalink
I have a site that that has been really flaky lately. I thought that I should try upgrading to a newer version of c5. That didn't go so well. I tried to download the recommended version through the dashboard. I assumed that I was downloading a copy to my hard drive, but apparently it was downloading to my server(?) Because after the download failed, I now have an update folder that contains an index.html page and concrete 5.5.2.1 folder. But I have no homepage but a blank page. I have searched for a thread that might cover this or similar, but haven't found anything.

Any help is appreciated.

Running on:
Apache version 2.2.25
PHP version 5.4.21
MySQL version 5.1.70-cll
Architecture x86_64
Operating system linux

Have you run the update? Or only download it. Check your config/site.php file for the below line.
define('DIRNAME_APP_UPDATED', 'C5 VERSION....');

If you find something similar to the above, then remove that particular line or comment that line. Then save and check the site again.
