Upgrading jQuery

I am currently running 5.6.1.2 and the jQuery that it calls is 1.7.2. I am thinking about upgrading C5, but know that a newer version will come with a newer version of jQuery. Am I right to assume that upgrading jQuery will make my plugins break that depended on 1.7.2? (I tried upgrading jQuery to 1.11 on my own and there were definitely blocks that didn't work.)

Thanks for any clarification!

c5.6.3.1 is still on jQuery 1.7.2, so you are safe with the latest core.

The upgrade crunch will come with c5.7
