Sounds like server limits or issues with your FTP client. This wouldn't be anything that Concrete5 is doing wrong.

Thanks for your response, can you or anyone else what it means in the installation instructions where it mentions...

"Make sure mod_rewrite is setup and functioning. If you try and install Concrete5 and receive a 404 error, and the URL is "/install/-/configure," mod _ rewrite is probably not enabled."

Is this something I need to do? I'm not really sure what this means!

Thanks

I've found that if you have cpanel access, the best way to install concrete5 is to upload the zip file to your directory on the server and use the file manager of cpanel to decompress it. It's easy fast and flawless.

This is the tip that I was looking for, I think.
I'll give it a go.

I think that I saw the video on You Tube for this installation, but I'm on the road and couldn't see Skee-wat of it on my netbook monitor.
Thanks, Steve.

Usually your server will be setup with this enabled. This doesn't have anything to do with your first problem though.

You can always ask your host if mod_rewrite is enabled.
