URGENT - Site Transfers with a hitch...

Good Morning

I am changing hosting services (reseller account to reseller account) - both with cPanel.

My new host said they can transfer the domains with a simple backup and restore. I have had them try one site to test and make sure it works properly.

For the most part I had no problem.

The only problem is the new server has the ability to auto install add-ons without having to download/upload/install manually (one of the reasons I switched). Like I said the site works with the exception of this. I get an error when attempting to install add-on.

I have tried to manually transfer this domain on my own (after the hosting company did) following the instructions found on this site with the same problem.

When I do a fresh install of c5 it works with no problem.

Should I do a fresh install and then transfer my custom theme, custom blocks and then associate the current database with that install?

I'm not sure which route to take at this point, but i have to move all of my hosted sites in the next week or so to cancel my current host.

Suggestions?

UPDATE - attached is the error message I get when trying to install an add-on...

Your error messages is most likely caused by a permissions issue on the /files directory (should be set to 777 or 775 recursively). The /package should be set the same way. If that is not the problem, check your php.ini settings, in particular, safe mode, file upload settings.

Let's get the add-on install error fixed first, then look at the site migration(s).
