Using concrete5 with hostgator
Permalink
Hello,
I need someone to dummy down the process of starting this. I have a domain with hostgator and want to use concrete5. Once I get it working I can edit and publish, but I have no idea how to set it up to get to that point. I am not a computer person. I really need to have it dumbed down for me...
Please?
Thank you!

Yes I found that out. I had tried to do that too early after I wiped my website and it didnt want to work. But now it is there and I am editing.
Follow up question... how do I get the concrete5 site I'm editing to show up when I type in my website? My concrete5 site is under 180unlimited.com/concrete5, so how do I get it so that it shows up when people type in 180unlimited.com?

This is an old tutorial, but you can give this a try.

Redirect 180unlimited.com tohttp://180unlimited.com/concrete5/...

Redirect 180unlimited.com tohttp://180unlimited.com/concrete5/...
That won't make it a infinite loop?
If you are feeling unsure, I would recommend calling HostGator customer support. The website says they are available 24/7/365.
HostGator and my web host both use cPanel, so I decided to try it myself before replying.

Seemed easy enough, but I tried and it said it would be a loop. When I get done building the site I'll go in and get it sorted. I put it under concrete5 not realizing that would be my site, so I guess I need to transfer it to my main directory and update the database and script? I have a friend texting me and says that will work... I'm enlisting her help, unless you can walk me through it, it sounds like I should be working step with step with someone on doing that.
I would contact support before you try to move your concrete5 install to your site root. It shouldn't take long for them to give you the information.
JohntheFish has a how-to detailing the benefits of not putting your concrete5 install in your site root.

HostGator includes a script auto-installer for concrete5.
