What to fill in the server field while installation

that is for the mysql database, it tends to be localhost
i am installing live.

I approached my service provider, and he gave me a wierd long name to fill into the server field .. something like this :
<mydatabasename>.db.<some number>.<someurlname>.com
So if you get the error, ask the service provider, to give you the server name for the database.
