Multilingual Site and SEO URLs
Permalink
Hi All,
I'd love to benefit from other's experience on this one.
I've built a multilingual site and I utilise the free internationalisation package so I have my english and german tree that can be seen within the sitemap.
In a non-multilingual site, I would tend to effectively hard code certain key links. For example, I'd have my top navigation sourced using the autonav block but there may be secondary top navigation that would have just a "contact us" link or some things like that. That Contact Us link is what I would tend to hard code.
Within a multilingual environment, I would like to avoid hard coding for the simple reason that the (hard-coded) URL would not be search engine friendly if I had it in one language.
Therefore (and here comes my question finally), how would you guys manage the language requirements of this? i.e. How would you get the language specific text *and* URL?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
