One site core, 4 languages

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hey C5 mates!

I am wondering if this can be done. For example, I would like to have one administration (one site core, database), and four different languages like English, Italian, Russian, and Croatian. Is it possible to tweak sites somehow for example: that when one would visit Italian forum, blog, etc... would be all in italian, and the same for other languages?

I hope I wrote understandable. :)

I have this kind of system

Home page
|__EN
| |__First page EN
| |__Second page EN
| |__Third page EN
|__DE
| |__First page DE
| |__Second page DE
| |__Third page DE
| and so on for another two languages...

Thank you in advance, time and help!

Mohor

Hey, 12345j!

I saw this site. But if you look at a example site (http://www.bbsanpedro.com/es/contacto/) and click on "contact" link on English version you will see "Submit" bottom, and so it is on Spanish version of the site.(In Spanish "Submit" mean "Enviar" or something like that. :)

I am wondering if this can change as well? And it would be the same if this site had blog modul, forum etc...

or do I need to put all four languages in separated root folder so they will have separate administration and I need to translate all modules/addons? I am asking this because if I use the system I show in my first post is much quicker to maintain.

Any suggestions highly appreciated! :)

Chances are they were using the form block and it hasn't been translated properly. Using the method outlined in that link, you create different pages for each language, so there is no reason why it shouldn't work just fine. I have started work on a completely different approach to multi language in C5, but the project has kinda stalled for the moment, so I don't think it will be available in the near future...

Hello Jon,

so if I understand you correctly I need to translate every block used on my pages to the language of the page, right?. :)

Awesome thing to hear, that you are working on this topic as well. Hope to see more from you about multi language in C5.

Well, all the core blocks _should_ be fully translated already in the language packs as I understand it. I haven't fully tested though, so you'd be best to just get stuck in and see how it works out.

Hi jbx,
I also would be interested if/whenever you come up with your approach. Not because I have anything against the posted guide and approach, bc actually, that's work JUST FINE for me, but bc I can't seem to get it to happen!!

I have tried to follow pvernaglia's directions but am mising a couple of BASICS, such as how to get the syntax right, WHERE exactly I plug those bits in, but I lack knowledge to know how my specific files and blocks are in my "Div's"..?? help anyone been able to get this no problem???

Thanks in advance,
Miguel
