ASAP! Site went down when updating!

Hello!
I was trying to update our site from 5.4.2.1 to 5.4.2.2 within the dashboard. I received this error message:
"The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application."
- and now, our entire site is down! Please send me a message and I'll give more information; I'm stuck as to what is going on and need help!

Okay - the site is back up, but my efforts at upgrading are to no avail. I'm looking for someone who can do this upgrade and hopefully make the site run more smoothly. Thank you!
