We are using Justin Garcia's Advanced Forms and Data Display add-on to enable architects to record cost and other metrics about construction projects.
For example: cost of new construction and area of new construction.
In the detail data display page we want to show a calculated entry such as cost per square meter. (the full list of user input and calculated fields is attached)
We're needing these calculated fields to be posted to the answers table each time the form is created or updated, as we're accessing the database from excel.
This project by ArchiCentre.ie is a FABA concept project (for architects by architects) and is about creating group knowledge.
Stage 2 is to create elegant data visualisations for the public of this information once a decent dataset is established.
We like, but want to remedy, the suggestion by a 1970's psychologist Lola Lopes from Iowa University, that "People are woefully muddled processors who often stumble along ill-chosen short cuts to reach bad conclusions." Our aim is to produced good data with good visualisation to reduce the muddle.
