Custom shipping: Options at check out depending on cart weight

Hi,
I'm looking for someone to help me with an eCommerce shipping feature. Basically I'm using UPS and table based shipping add-ons. I'd like the Table Based Shipping option to not show up at check out when the shopping cart total items weight is 6 lbs or more. Then only the options for the UPS shipping will show.
This doesn't need to be done in a fancy way, if it's simply done by altering the code in the table based shipping add-on (or whatever else might be easier) that's completely fine. Keep it a simple job. I don't mind having to use ftp to edit the weight limit or turn it off. I'm familiar with PHP but not yet enough to do something like I'm needing now.
Also it doesn't need to be core upgrade proof, I don't plan on upgrading c5 for a while and hopefully at that point I'll have the PHP skills I'm needing.
