I've sent you a PM.
Just copy all your files and SQL database to new environment
and remember that do not copy cache folder.
This might be helpful.
and remember that do not copy cache folder.
This might be helpful.
And modify config.php with the new parameters, and check that all your new PHP server meets all requirements, and secure database if needed, and point DNS, and all that stuff that makes difference between a fly and a dove
"remember that do not copy the cache folder"
^ are you saying
(A) 'remember that does not copy the cache folder' because it is stored somewhere else?
or are you saying
(B) 'remember not to copy the cache folder' because if you copy the cache folder it will mess everything up?
Where is the cache folder? Should I copy it or not? Thanks.

Cache folder is inside the files folder. Copy or not you should flush the cache via the dashboard after the move.
thank you. maybe flush it before the move?
It doesnt matter. You should still flush the cache and do all the maintenance jobs.
Hi All,
Just a quick note, being in the UK I called the guy up and have chatted to him. He doesn't need to move the site he just need a little help with DNS and web forwarding his old site.
I am going to talk him through it.
On a side note, moving sites is a very painless process if done methodically.
This is a great link

What I find more challenging is updating old sites. Now that can be a can of worms.
