Need help getting either ProBlog or WordPress for Concrete5 blog to work
Permalink
I'm trying to get a blog going on mywww.www.akamaidatasolutions.com... site and have failed miserably.
I installed WP for C5 months ago and it worked okay but I had no time to do anything with it. Couple months ago, I had time so tried to back to it but it wasn't working. I have to admit I'm not completely positive it was totally working correctly to begin with since I had no time but I'm quite sure I did post a test blog and it was visible.
But now that test blog was gone, and I couldn't post another. I got help from a WP friend and they supposedly got it to work but it wasn't working. She tried again still not working. I tried again still nothing so I uninstalled it and reinstalled and we both tried again but still not working. So, then I find ProBlog and it sounds so much simpler.
I get a problog license and install and it seems to be working but as I try to add categories I somehow crash it. I can't get it to work so I uninstall it and try again but can't get it to work. And funny thing as I install it, it creates a blog page for me but the page is not the problog page; its the wp page!!
I go into cpanel file tree and look for anything WP and remove it. Uninstall Problog and reinstall and I get the same thing, a WP blog page is automatically created which of course I can't do anything with and if I try to create a ProBlog page I can but if I try to go to it I get the attached error message.
By the way, I'm installing using the C5 simple install utility.
I'm very ignorant of anything internet. I'm an old school visual foxpro programmer. I can usually muddle around and get where I want to but this is driving me crazy. Seems like it should be a simple matter of finding the "database" and fix something there and maybe a config file but I rather find an expert to help me rather than continue muddling around.
FYI, recent changes in releasing add ons (dis-associate from site) has now made it so I can't download/reinstall either of these apps. My posts in both add on help sections have not resulted in any responses yet. I'm okay with buying another license to speed up the process. I just want to get the dang thing working.
If you can get either add on to work I'll be happy and sing songs of your awesomeness to my grand-kids.
Help!! and let me know a ball park cost.

Hi ChadStrat,
It's datacraftsteve.
Attached is a screenshot of my help post.
Thanks for any help you can provide and I'm okay with paying for your help if it means getting into my site/files to fix anything that might have gotten corrupted
Thanks,
Steve

So strange...that was nowhere in my emails. But I do see it on page 3 of our support thread. It's possible you posted this right about the time the core team was working on the mother site here. either way, I can help you. Use the ticket from here on.

Thanks ChadStrat,
I really appreciate your help. Would be just my luck that I would be
posting when all the c5 changes are happening. The "no release" from
project issue happened in the middle of my struggling with this.
Let me know if you need to look into my site or cpanel and I'll provide you
with the logins.

Hi Chadstrat,
Nick01 is responding to my post looking to hire a developer to help me fix my blog problem. So @nick01 != @datacraftsteve
Nick01, thanks for your reply. I'd like to work with Chadstrat first since this is his add on. I'll keep you posted as well as keep you in mind for other things I'd like to do with my site in the future.
Thank you both!

By the way, I am embarrassed to show how ignorant I am but what is "PM" anyway?

Just following up to make sure you received my message with the login credentials and that all worked ok.
thanks
thanks
1) I logged in and did not see ProBlog installed or that you were connected to the community. How can I check something that is not there???
2) the FTP info you provided me goes to a blank directory. I need FTP to the root of your site so that I can troubleshoot any issues if there are any.

Hi Chadstrat,
I apologize if this is a duplicate message. I thought I sent this but don't see it anywhere.
Yes, you would not see problog installed on my site. That's part of the problem I'm trying to resolve. I uninstalled ProBlog with the intention of re-installing it. However, this was when C5 removed the ability to release add ons. So, after uninstalling I had no option to release it and cannot not re-install or download to ftp.
From what I read on the forum, I think I need you to release it or make a download to ftp possible.
My ftp is probably blank because all my add ons were installed via the c5 built in installer. Sorry, I'm very ignorant of all of this so it didn't occur to me that you might be looking for the download. Is that what you were looking for ?
I can provide you access to my cpanel if that will help.
And, I'm okay with paying you for going above an beyond your obligation to help me get this up.
Thanks,
Steve
