Unable to create sitemap
Permalink
I cannot create sitemap.xml, I get the following error: "...sitemap.xml is not writable"
I think it should be something with the permissions, However, I'm not a programmer and then I have no idea how to access that file, or neither how to change the permission.
Do anyone knows how to solve this error?
UPDATE:
After several calls and emails with the 1&1 support team, It looks that the problem is that the webpage was created in what they call "Safe Mode" This means that you have no control of your page nor folders, and I cannot switch to "Free mode" as this mode has not been updated then is not at the same level as the Safe mode...
Then, It looks that the only posible "solution" is to create my webpage again, but, now using the free mode.
After this, I don't see why they recommend the "Safe Mode" They say this is to save time, But, I have spent a lot of time to create my page, a week to discover this was useless, and now I'm going to spend more time in redo my page.

Looks like you need to ftp to your site and make the sitemap.xml file writable. Your web host may be able to help you.
Or if you PM me your cpanel or ftp info I can do it for you for free.
Thanks a lot, Your answer gave me some light, Now, I was able to access my control panel. just I cannot find the sitemap.xml file...according with the error statement, the route is: /kunden/homepages/24/d474042823/htdocs/app474042942/sitemap.xml
But, when I open app474042942 I see a lot of folders but not the sitemap.xml file

try making your root folder writable. my public_html folder is 750 so that may do it.
Hi, It looks I have no writable access to my root folder, and according with my host supplier (1&1) it is due to concrete5 and then tehy recommend me to uninstall it.
There is no reason to make your web root folder writeable (a bad idea), just create an empty sitemap.xml file and make it writeable.
If you can't figure out how to do that with your FTP client, I would be glad to help for free.
I would need your FTP hostname/user/password.
I've dealt with 1&1 hosting before,
Just send me a PM with those details, you can change them later,
John

Looks like you got it sorted out...
Hi,
Please change the folder permission and then check.
Thanks

Again, there is no reason to make your webroot folder writeable, that's just bad advice.
I've been using *nix systems for over 20 years, just send me a PM with those details.
