5.6.4 Official Release

Is there a timeline for doing an official release of 5.6.4 from the core team?
I would love to see this in the very near future for those sites which are not ready to rebuild into version 8, so that they can at least move to PHP7.
From the chatter around the Forums and Slack it sounds like the GitHub version is pretty solid and PHP7 ready, several people have said they upgraded and everything is working well.

+1 for an official release of 5.6.4 with php7 compatibility.
Its not entirely compatible with PHP 7, there is a bug when running it on PHP 7.2 where it crashes when uploading images.

My systems are php 7.0.x and 7.1.x, so I haven't run into that bug. There have been a few point releases of php7.2 since you posted. Is it still current?
Yes John
I tested it again on PHP 7.2.3 with same result..

Thanks for checking. Any release of 5.6.4 would need to be qualified 'compatible up to php 7.1'. That would be worthwhile for me, but would it be worthwhile for you and others?
Yes John it will be fine for me until such time as the hosting companies start pushing for PHP 7.2, probably several years away I know.
However, I understand that PHP 7.2 has some significant speed and security improvements over 7.1.
In the fullness of time we might get 5.6.4.0 working on 7.2 (its almost there now).

Just an update on the issue I mentioned in the above posts.
It appears this is a bug in PHP 7.2, @mlocati has submitted a bug report to the PHP development team which has been accepted and a patch should be included in the next release (PHP 7.2.4)

+1 for an official release :-)
