Confused with themes
Permalink
Hi guys. I am a concrete5 newbie. I have just started to learn concrete5 last week. I have created a custom theme and it works fine. Only problem now is I need a mobile version. So I went to themes and noticed a mobile theme section. I tried switching themes and all my content disappears. The same with switching themes on my main site. I don't understand why the content disappears. I thought themes are supposed to just switch easily. I have used normal blocks for my content and the designer content block for other parts. This now is a big problem because I need to switch themes at some point and now does this mean I have to design and then create a custom theme and re-add the 30 pages of content?
I have a custom theme that my client is very happy with, but now they want the site to be more mobile friendly. It sounds as if the best solution is to start with a "responsive theme" an then customize it. Can anyone recommend a responsive theme that can be easily restyled to match an existing site?
Best,
waroly

Take a look at these themes:
1.http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/themes/luxury-theme/...
2.http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/themes/theme-fictional/...
These are fully responsive. Although there are many more available in marketplace.

You mentioned your custom theme.... Does it have the same naming conventions used in whatever theme you are trying to use as mobile (ie 'Main', 'Sidebar' etc)?
Your content doesn't disappear when switching to a mobile theme, its just skinned differently. I could see sidebar content not showing if your mobile theme is main body only, but otherwise it should work.
