Content Removed When Installing New Theme

We have moved our concrete 5 installations to a Linux server from a Windows platform because we were having issues with SSO. We were able to change themes without any issues. Now when we install a new theme (change a theme) to any of our existing sites, we loose the content from our pages.

If we change back to our previous theme, everything is restored (content is back on our pages) as should be.

We did not have any issue before. Can anyone help us? Is this some sort of Linux configuration issue? We have cleared the cache and we can see that the new theme has been installed into the database.

Thank you in advance for your help.

The reason this happens is probably because the Area's have different names in the different themes. Did you guys create the theme yourself? If so, you could just change the Area names to match each other across the themes. Otherwise, you might need to Copy to Clipboard all the blocks when on the old theme and then paste them after you switch to the new theme.

Thanks for your reply, but we never had this problem before. We have been changing thems all the time under a windows platform. But, when we just moved our sites to a Linux Server, then this problem occurred.

Hi,
I've moved sites from Windows to Linux without a problem in the past. I have, however, had the issue with some (note...not all) themes that like celwell mentions, do not follow the same area naming convention.
Is the theme you are trying to switch to Now the same one you've been able to switch to previously? If not, its more likely to be the theme, not the server.
This is just guesswork on our part though unless you let us know which themes you are using.

Hope this helps
