Default content for new page

Is there any way to change the default content that shows up on a new page? For example, I would like to have the sidebar and custom image slideshow to automatically be populated when I create a new page.

Go to Dashboard- Pages and Themes, select the Page Types tab up top then select the defauts button for the page type you want to work on. You can edit the page and insert blocks there.
