How do i check PHP version on my themes and plug ins?

Novice user here, forgive me if my questions is not clear.
Blue host is telling me that one of my themes is causing my web site to crash. Blue host is updating to PHP 5.4 and if my theme or plug ins are not updated then it will cause my site to crash. How do i find out what heme of plug in is causing the crash? I have checked for theme updates and none are available.
