Redefining a theme from a web software (like Xara) could be quite tricky. Hope for the best especially on the inline styles.

I have seen a different CMS set up used with Xara online. It is not opensource though and they want 200$ or more per domain. I build smaller sites, some for small business and some are non-profit orgs and that kind of price tag isnt practical.

I just need to be find a way to allow some text areas and maybe some pictures to be changed post publishing, without my involvement. I am hoping Concrete5 has the solution. I will say I like the set up and usability of it so much I will definitely be constructing some sites solely with C5 in the future.

The method used with the other CMS was to change the DOC type of the dynamic page to php extension, then using placeholders within Xara to define which areas are active content. Xara allows for code snippets to be used within it. You create a small box graphically then go into its web properties and mark it as a place holder then paste the code in place, It has defining entry places for both head and body code snippets. It works for all sorts of items, whether iframes, or social widgets, plug ins, flash items, etc.

Believe me i've tried a lot converting with static web softwares especially Xara. But certain CMS'és are strict with code handling and stuffs that we must go thru.

Using the placeholder works with other c5 competitor (i know you know which one), but c5 is a totally different approach. Its managing your contents/datas and displaying it as you prefered on web pages.

Before i used static html ref and convert to cms, but then it was time consuming, later picked up themes (like in c5 Marketplace which has design similarities) and worked from there. Quicker as you can include the images generated by Xara (or other sofwares) to c5 themes easily.

I've tried Xaxx built in CMS but failed upon install and could not get it to work right (possible server issues, config etc...that was waste)

I'm sure it should be the other away around, and using Xara placeholders to grab datas in c5 would not be the ideal solution. Well that's just me.

well thank you for explaining that before I throw to much time and energy at this only to find it just is not compatible in that way. I will most likely use C5 in future instances just as you stated with templates and import various xara items to us in the site.

Back to the drawing board. Glad I found C5 though I do like it.
