If you look up the Theme/Addon in the Marketplace, it should tell you, or at least the version of Concrete5 it is compatible with.:

The latest version of Concrete5 is compatible with PHP 5.2.4 or newer, as can be seen here:

You can view the PHP version on your server stats section via cpanel, if your host uses that tool:
