Question about free themes usage

I'm new here so sorry if this is a basic question.

Can free themes be used on clients sites that you charge for? I looked at the licensing agreements and it's the same licensing for paid themess, basically that you are only paying for usage on 1 site.

But since these are free can they be used for commercial purposes on multiple client sites?

Yes, you can use them on as many sites as you want, especially if you download them and install them manually (via FTP).

I have a theme in the marketplace, which is free, that I have released under the MIT license. Basically, I am allowing anyone to use it as a starting point for creating their own themes to submit to the marketplace!

Basically, what you CAN'T do with any marketplace theme - free or paid - is pass it off as your own work.
