Removing theme doesn't work
Permalink
Just did a fresh install of c5 and want to "clean up" by removing default themes. After clicking the red "remove" button from themes in dashboard, the next page loads but is blank and without any errors... in fact, checking html source reveals absolutely nothing i.e. no mark-up at all.
Site is asp hosted at Arvixe and everything else c5-related seems to be working fine, just this theme thing!

Hi there, Did you remove the theme that your site was actually using?
no, I'm trying to get rid of the ones that I'm not using,
We did some testing in the office and can't reproduce that error. The themes are removed as expected. There isn't any real reason to remove default themes that aren't in use other than to avoid clutter, so I suggest doing a new clean install and just ignore those themes.
thanks for the responses. apologies, I should've been clearer - I've also played around with creating custom themes of my own based on different frameworks. so it's not just about the default themes, but also to clean up some junk that I've created :-) so at first when I tried to remove "my" themes I though it might be something I did, hence I tried to test with one of the default themes but encountered the same issue i.e. nothing.
Its always worth keeping a default theme available.
- If you run into any issues later, a useful test is to swap to a default theme and see if the issue persists.
- When doing a major C5 version upgrade, its always safest to swap to a default theme for the duration of the upgrade, just in case your theme turns out to be incompatible with the new C5 version.

Thanks John and Julia for your feedback on this discussion,
I was also contemplating removing the default themes to 'avoid the clutter' because soon the website I'm working on will be passed off to the client.
I'm going to leave them there, however I'm deleting most of their default images in the File Manager.
Thank you both, and thanks myplace for the question.
