Revenue for Theme developers

Guys,

I have spent a year or three buying themes from ThemeForest and converting them to C5 as they are usually smarter (and cheaper) than those found in the C5 marketplace.

Today I noticed that ThemeForest are now doing Concrete5 themes! I don't know if the guys there are all C5 community but I am guessing quite a few of the theme developers in the community don't know that ThemeForest now offers a new route to market for them. Please see:

Get coding!

The C5 site does ask theme developers on here not to sell them elsewhere.
Also, themeforest takes a large cut, much larger than on here, unless you make it unique to their site, then it is comparable.

I didnt know that. It seems people are though. It does get C5 known more widely however.

That's true, C5 needs a good representation on large sites like that.

I think the appeal when selling on themeforest is that best sellers there sell several thousands unit. I don't think there's anything comparable over here.

Themeforest doing C5 themes (and codecanyon doing addons) were both announced on Totally Random a few months back as (guessing exact words) 'good for the future of c5'.

I have been considering selling themes on Themeforest before. However, I am not very interested in doing so since they take such a large percentage of sales.

Concrete is much more generous - we get to keep 75% of each sale!

Also, the support on Themeforest is just awful by comparison to what you'll find on Concrete.

And the quality is much lower, too.

I once bought a C5 theme from themeforest, and found it to be very poorly coded. There would be no way it would have been approved by the PRB for the marketplace here.

It's worth spending a few extra bucks for better quality and service here than there.

But, at least Concrete gets some exposure, though!
