Sub menus in Header nav

Hi

I know there is made other threads about this subject, however the solutions mentioned in them did not work for me.

I need to display submenus in the Header Nav block.

They are correctly displayed when i insert the auto nav block, but this block does not appear as standard on every new page i create.

So i need a way to get submenus in the Header Nav or a way to implement the auto nav block as standard on every new page.

Any advise? :)

Hi,

this is not a block problem, but page standard...

if you go to your dashboard -> pages and themes -> page types... take your page_type and push "defaults"

now you edit this page and make your block act as you want.. when you are done click the block and push "copy to subpages" - now you can select all your available pages and add these new settings to your existing pages..

when you save your editing, now future pages will also have these standards you just defined..!

hope this helps you :-)

Thats works on every existing pages but the new ones i create still have the same problem.

I am creating a website for people who do not have that much experience with computers so it have to be really simple.

Their demand was that the only thing they needed to do when creating new pages was to edit the main content

So adding the menu to the scrapbook is not an option :)

But thanks for your replies

if you create new one with the page type you edited it should work.. you have to do it to every page type you want to use...!

It is probably me who is doing something wrong but when I click the "defaults" button under my template i am just redirected to the front page and with the normal concrete5 admin menu in the top of the page.

If I press "edit page" and make the change so the index page looks the way it is supposed to none of the other page gets edited and if create a new page afterwards it is the same old menu without the submenus :(

if you would like me to look through your site, you can create me as user at your site, and send me a private message with the details, and I will be happy to help you!

otherwise it's a bit difficult to guide you more, when I haven't seen your site.. :-)

Have you tried (once you have a page working correctly) adding the block (menu) to your scrapbook and then adding to every new page created.

Hi

Forgive me for coming into this half way but I'm not too certain that you are editing the default values correctly as per pixel8 directions.
To edit Page Defaults you will need to be signed in with full administrative rights. I have listed out below the actions required to change page defaults correctly;

1. Select "Pages and Themes from left menu in Dashboard view.

2. Select "Page Types" from the top menu of the page that is now on screen.

3. From the Page List that is now displayed, click the "Defaults" button on the right hand side corresponding to the correct Page Type Name.

4. A new window will open with this page type as a "Blank" page, illustrating exactly what will be added to any page created using this page type.

5. Click "Edit Page" from the top left menu which will now place this page type in edit mode.

6. Now go through this page and make the necessary changes to include all of the functionality you require.

7. Any changes you make within this page can be rolled out sitewide by clicking the edited region and selecting "Setup on Child Pages" and selecting the relative pages from the pop up window.

8. Once changes have been made click "Exit Edit Mode" from the top left and make sure that you Publish Changes.

Now, when you create a new page, once you select this page type as its template, the changes you have made to the template will reflect once you view it. One issue I came across with this not illustrating correctly was to simply delete the Cache from the Dashboard > Sitewide Settings > Debug screen and then deleting my browser history etc.

As Pixel8 states, if there is something a little more awry, then you'll have to let someone have access so they can take a look :) I hope this helps in some way.

Currently, I am using the "Full width" layout.

But i only have a default.php in my folder and can see that the default template has both a full.php and left_sidebar.php.

Can this be the problem?
