Theme and add-ons for an Intranet

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi

1. I am starting on a new project where a kind of Intranet is needed. My first question is which themes will be suitable for an Intranet?

2. For the functionality I just need profiles with no shared blogs etc., just some kind of inbox/mail approach or chat with another specific user. A user shall be able to upload from their desktop pc via the site to another user a document like word, excel, powerpoint, videoes and add some comment. Then the other user can review it and send it back with comments.
Any add-ons I could use to create this, or can I set this up with the basics in C5?

Themes either used for an intranet or on the web are pretty much all the same, it's the functions you want that may require customization. You can look for something in the C5 Marketplace, or on a template library or have a designer do something custom for you.

Profile pages and messaging to users on the system are all part of Concrete5, you just need it all configured and the proper links to exist so it all works. I don't think the default Elemental Theme has it implemented, if you look at themes in the marketplace inquire about it having messaging set up.

Uploading files and being able to send files between users is not a stock feature and would need to be built up specifically for you. I have done a member upload block that lets people upload files to their profile page, It was for photo sharing and created galleries of peoples work. I may have part of what you want to do ready, but it would require more work.

I'd be happy to discuss this more with you privately.

Fundamental or Supermint would be ideal for what you're looking for. Although, most themes don't have support for profile pages, as far as I know.

I can be hired to create something custom for you.

Also, you may want to check out my addons to see if any of them could benefit your project.

Thx to both of you. I had hope that I did not need to pay for development "already", and to be honest I would prefer someone closer to my country, but I will consider it and get back to you.

Hi sofc,

The upcoming version 8 of concrete5 will be adding many new features specifically for intranet use.
