upgrading to new version and editing existing default theme
Permalink
hi all
I've been designing a site with concrete5 and enjoying it.
I edited the existing default theme found in - root/concrete/themes/default.
Pretty sure that you will all tell me that I shouldn't have edited that theme but anyway I did it and don't want to lose my amends when I update to the new concrete5 just released.
How do I keep those amends? Do I copy the theme to root/themes and then upgrade? Or just backup the theme and then copy it back over the top after upgrade?
Thanks for any help.

thanks - all updated now.
If I need to make changes to the theme now, do I edit the one that I moved to root/themes/default or the original in root/concrete/themes/default?
thanks for any more help.

If you did copy to root/themes/default, edit file there.
I know this is a bit of an old post but I just have a quick question.
I am in about the same predicament except instead of editing the default theme, I have a theme that purchased from a dev. outside of the marketplace and have uploaded and edited through the packages folder. There is now a new version of the theme available and I am trying to figure out how to keep all my settings and custom styling when I upgrade to the new version.
I am assuming I would copy the theme from the packages folder to the root/themes folder, but then do I manually upload the newer version (entire theme folder) to the packages folder or the root/themes folder folder or do I only need to upload specific files from the updated theme folder to my theme folder?
Thanks

Even than upgrade to the new version, your files are not deleted. But the default folder will be root/updates.
