Why does changing a theme not change the site?

Hi. I am taking baby steps into Concrete5 but I am careful to read the available documentation.

I am trying to create a custom theme based on the Consensus Theme. I followed the instructions in:

http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/designers/modify-a-p...

1) I copied the c5/packages/marticps_consensus/themes/marticps_consensus directory under c5/themes

2) I changed the owner of the new directory recursively

3) I renamed the new directory to c5/themes/theme_elc and I modified the description.txt file.

4) I went to Dashboard > Pages & Themes > Themes, scrolled down and I installed theme_elc. So far so good. However, when "installing" I was shown the "Inspect" screen -- which does not happen with installing packaged themes. Note that theme_elc stayed in c5/themes/ instead of migrating to c5/packages/ as I expected.

5) I activated the theme_elc for all pages (still only the basic demo pages).

6) I made a colour change (to see how this theme editing thing works) and saved it. When I "preview" the theme, the change is in effect. However, none of the few site pages got changed! I tried activating another theme and reactivating theme_elc, to no avail: the change I made to the theme does not appear.

What did I do wrong?

Sounds like a caching problem. Try this...

Go to "Dashboard->System and Settings->Clear Cache". This will clear old files out of the C5 system.

Try hitting CTRL-F5 several times on your browser and hopefully the changes show up. Have a look at this article to help you set up all your browsers to bypass the cache.
