Theme thumbnails must be exactly 600x560 and must be a JPEG image !?

Why we must add a thumbnail in this sze when in the detail page, the image is cropped to a 772x552 px ? (screenshot)
The half bottom is cropped by the layout.
It would be better to have choice to upload two image : for the Real thumbnail and on for the big image in the detail page. It's a bit weird for now and not good to create beautiful product image.
