403 Error when setting up Google Analytics

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi!

I am trying to install Google Analytics onto my C5 site. I have gone to Systems and Settings, Clicked on Tracking Code and entered my script from Google. When I hit the save button I get a 403 Forbidden page saying I do not have permission to access the page.

Any advice please?

I'm experiencing the same issue. Except using a different analytics tool. Anyone got any ideas on this?

You don't have permission to access /index.php/dashboard/system/seo/tracking_codes/ on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I managed to get it to work by removing the comment tags at the top and bottom of my tracking script. The ones I've shown below.

<!-- Piwik -->
<!-- End Piwik Code -->

Still confused why they cause a problem...

Thanks for the tip! I initially removed the Google inserted
<script> </script>
tags and it saved it. I then reinserted them but put
<script language="javascript">
instead and again it has saved it.

Thanks WhiteHawk!
