Access to site error

We have two installations of Concrete 5 within the same site. One is the public facing site, then entry to the private site is via a log-in.
When we try to log-inn to the private site, this error message is now showing

I have asked our Web Hosts to look into it but they are saying it could be a problem with the database.
I have made no changes to any of the PHP Code, however my client has a new user updating the site. Could a new user cause such a catastrophic error?
On my host error logs I have several around the same time they include
I am feeling totally out of my depth and would appreciate any help.

So a big-up to Catalyst2 - probably went beyond the call of duty but found the problem and restored an old database back up for me.
I probably need to up my skills and learn more about this side of things!
