Add Functionality Page Error

I have a had a few issues this morning and the last one is this error

mysql error: [2006: MySQL server has gone away] in EXECUTE("select tpID, tpHandle, tpName, tpDescription, pkgID from TaskPermissions where tpHandle = 'install_packages'")


The Add Functionality page is loading but with no layout and this error is at the bottom.

This is all to do with deleting tables from the database for Designer Content and it has been a real pain.

This is the last thing to sort out.

Anyone any ideas. Greatly appreciated.
