Adding a Link to the bar that has Home About Search
Permalink 1 user found helpful
I must be stupid but I have been searching forever on how to add a link to the main bar that has Home Search About. I figured out how to do it using "add an external link" but I don't want to add an external link, I want to link to another page in concrete5. I looked at the sitemap in dashboard, and I see that each of those headings has its own folder, so I thought the solution might be to create a folder. But..I DON'T SEE ANY OPTIONS TO CREATE A FOLDER!
thank you for the detailed answer. So I am guessing there is no way to add folders to the site tree for my own organizational purposes. How was the default theme able to add folders?
Go back and look at your sitemap.
If you add a page to the 'home' folder - these pages will appear in the main auto nav automatically. If you add a subpage to a page this will produce a folder but the subpages won't automatically appear in the auto nav. Look at the "About" folders as an example. The about page shows up in the main auto nav but it's subpages are hidden. to make those subpages appear in the auto nav you have to edit the nav via the dialogue box and and drop down options to make subpages appear in the navigation.
If you want to create folders - aka pages with subpages you can either:
1. Navigate to that page in edit mode and then choose 'add page' from the tool bar.
or
2. In the sitemap click the page you want to add subpages to and then choose 'add page' from the bottom of the options given you.

Another excellent answer. I'm not sure if maybe I didn't look hard enough but I have a feeling other people may be getting stuck in the same position. You guys are doing great with the screencasts, maybe you could add a quick blurb about what you told me. Thank you again for helping a total noob!
Once you figure it out add that autonav block to your scrapbook so you can reuse it on new pages without having to go through all those steps again.
