Adding an extra block to a page

Hey I'm assuming I'm going to have to create a new page type for this, but I'm still checking if I'm right and 2) I don't know how to create a new page type.

You can add blocks to any page, but you can also add them to page types - so they are present on all pages you create via the dashboard.

You only need a new page type if the layout you want to achieve is different that than available in the existing page types.

I'm sorry, I posted the wrong Question, what I really want to know is how to add more of those red-dashed outlines, to which you can add blocks.
Yeah you're right about the blocks , minor misconception on my part

They are areas - placeholders for blocks. They are added in the themes default.php and page type files.
