Advanced Permissións: Editors Can Add Layouts but Can't Add Blocks to those Layouts
Permalink
Hi, I have a groups of editors who I need to be able to add lay outs and blocks but everytime they create a lay out I have to give them the permission to add blocks to that new area... and its making us loose a lot of time.
Is there a way to give them both permissions.. I really don't know what to do.
Thank you.

I'm looking into this for you...
ok, heres what I'v found so far...
go to the page type defaults page for the page type you're using.
Dashboard > page types > your page type. Click "defaults"
Click on "add to main" then "set permissions". Make sure proper access is allowed for every section you want groups to add layouts and blocks!!

Was able to replicate what you're trying to do and it is simply not possible at the moment :( The bug has been reported here... http://www.concrete5.org/developers/bugs/5-6-1-2/layout-areas-permi...
I think I just figured this out !!
I have set permissions on the page I want editable to
View Area: administrators
Edit Contents: administrators
approve changes: administrators
In the "add to main" area I have set permissions to
View Area: administrators
Edit Area Contents: administrators
add block, stack and layout: administrators
Delete Area Contents: administrators.
I am now able to log in as testuser, which I have added to the Administrators Group, Navigate to the editable page and go ahead and add a layout and then a block, stack, etc inside any of the layout areas !!
See permissions attachments...
EDIT: Confirmed... same permissions settings on page type defaults. New page carries permissions and am able to log in as an "administrator" and create layout, with blocks inside.

Hi Enlil, thank you very much for all your help, but I don't know what am I missing, I've given all the permissions you mention both in defaults and directy on my home page to inherit on subpges.
You can have a look in the attachments, and I can't find the mistake.
Note: My Main Area is called Content ( Add to content) and my group to edit is called EDITORS
Thank you in advance...

and did you click on "add to content" > set permissions and set proper permissions in there too. If you do that on the page defaults page every new page created should render the ability to add the layouts and blocks. You'll want to go to every page of that type that has already been created and change the "add to content" permissions. If you have any further troubles PM me and I could further assist you.
