This is an error message I am getting after logging in. Top bar editing functions are not there.

An unexpected error occurred.
preg_match(): Compilation failed: invalid range in character class at offset 4

Any ideas on whats going on?

This is often because your host has updated php and you are running an older core version that is not compatible.

If that is the case
1.Use cPanel or get your host support desk to go back to a previous php version. That will get the site running
2. Make a database and files backup
2. Update concrete5
3. Use cPanel or get your host support desk to move the php version forward again

Thanks but the host put php back to 7.3 and still getting same message. The c5 is version 8.4.1
When I check an update it says "No new updates are ready to be installed"
What and how do I need to update?

Your help is very much appreciated.
