'Access Denied' error editing a scrapbook block

I log in as admin, go to edit the left-hand panel which has the phone numbers - this is a scrapbook block.

I can edit it via the scrapbook admin panel but not by doing the in-context edit (the normal way).

I get an 'access denied' error - thoughts?

FWIW, I had a whole page where every block was access denied. It was an aliased page, so may have had something to do with that. I ended up replacing the blocks (with the same content) and the problem went away.

It may have had something to do with me upgrading the site, not sure (upgraded after putting the content in).

I've got the same problem. Since I copied a block from a page to the Global Scrapbook (as an alias which is what seems to be recommended), and then inserted it from the GS into another page, nothing works! I made changes in the block in the GS, but they didnt show up in either of the pages that contain that block, and when I went to try and make the edits directly on the page itself - I got 'access denied' (in both cases - even though one block was the 'original' and one had been copied from the GS) . So my only alternative is to delete them and start again - which completely ruins the point of having scrapbook blocks

OK - I figured it out! It only works if you create the original block within the Global Scrapbook. So if you have an existing block on one page and want to make this available elsewhere with simultaneous updating, DON'T copy it as a block - instead copy the contents, then go to Global Scrapbook, create a new block and paste the contents in to that. Now go to the page(s) where you want it to occur, delete the original block if that's still there, and then insert new block by copying it from the GS. Now when you edit the block you will get a warning message that this belongs to the GS and any edits will apply across the site. As that's what we want, go ahead and make your changes - and yes, they take effect wherever the block appears!

Did this ever get sorted out? 'Cuz I'm building a site right now, over a year later, and having the same issue (in 5.4.1.1). I have the cache disabled on the whole site.

Yup. Ditto to the problem.

I just experienced it today.

Created an HTML block within the Global Scrapbook.

Copied contents of a navbar.php file which contained my navigation menu for the site (I making this a block so client can easily edit it like any other block) into that block.

Then set up a editable Area within the Page Type for the page.

Copied the block into that Area from the Global Scrapbook.

Can edit it just once and then Access Denied.

I have to Publish my edits before I can get back into the block.
