Approval workflow is slow

Does anyone else notice that (5.6.3.3) approving a page revision takes a long time before the progress indicator is done, and the page appears marked approved?

What would cause this? MySQL communication? Concrete5 itself?

No one has issues with the approval process?

I'm wondering if it's an issue when caching is off? A lot of pages?
