AutoNav disappearing

I have several pages and levels with aliases, etc. I have Advanced Permissions set up and feel like I have a good handle on it. Things have been going well..until the other day.

My autonav is disappearing. THe permissions are set right. You can only see it if you are the current editor. Even when I log out and log in again with my ID, I cannot see the Vertical Superfish menu...but only on certain pages.

(I tested it with just a simple autonav and that disappears, too...)
I deleted the page and started again, but now only three are showing up, not three.

Now, another person did create these pages and I created some. But, the permissions are set for everyone to read them...even the blocks.

Plus, there is another page with about 12-15 pages under it that keeps disappearing.

I've cleared the cache...checked the dateabase...now what??

well its hard to guess what's going on here, but if its any help i've never seen data just vanish on its own in a concrete5 install. could it be something with the area permissions?

can you post an example or something?

I have gone over and over this checking permissions of the page and the area. It is made from a default page, but it's so odd.

The first problem I am having is with this:
http://www.mcauliffeptsa.org/c5/index.php/c5/leadership/board_of_di...

Three pages show up under it, but there are four. All permissions are for Read for Guest and the two of us (admin and the advocacy person) have all other rights.

The menu is finally showing except for that last page.

Also, I moved the subpages to a temp spot, then deleted and recreated the parent page. After I moved the subpages back, they are completely empty except for the header. No column dividers even.

The other page I am having issue with is:

http://www.mcauliffeptsa.org/c5/index.php/c5/mca/organization/board...

The menu is there now...I just added it again. BUT, when I first added it today, TWO menus on top of one and other showed after I logged out to review it. I deleted it and it seems to be fine...for now. I've done this about four times now.

Could it be my default page?

Could I have a corrupt database? An intruder?

I am hoping it's just user error--a much simpler fix, but I cannot figure it out.

seems like you've really got a few issues in that post - i guess first piece of advice, slow down.

1) is it possible someone turned on the exclude from nav flag for the one page that isn't showing up in the navigation? Its in the page's properties. If that's not it, it must be the read permissions on the page that isn't showing up... particularly if it does show up for admin but not for guest users.

2) moving subpages around and then moving them back really shouldn't impact the content that's on them.

3) that's odd.. if you goto Dashboard >Pages and Themes > Defaults, does the page type have the right blocks on it there? That's where I'd start... Sometimes navigations don't look right when you're editing a page for the first time. For example, your page hasn't been saved yet, so the page name doesn't showup in the navigation where it might eventually..

not sure how helpful any of that was, i hope things are getting better.

Do I seem frantic? Not really--just a fast typer/talker.

So,

1) I checked the nav flag on the pages and it's not there. If "it must be the Read Permissions" then what do you mean? It says canRead. Where do I go from there?

2) >>moving subpages around and then >>moving them back really shouldn't impact >>the content that's on them.

No kidding--not only did the content disappear, but the form I had on one still shows up in forms. I can't find it. I mean, the default has three columns plus a footer and there is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING under the header.
Something fishy is going on.

3) Yes, I have checked the default page and it is as it should be.

I have made probably 40-50 pages and they have all been fine. (with over 800 versions) I feel like I have a pretty good handle of the system. This is definitely odd.

>>>not sure how helpful any of that was, i >>>hope things are getting better.

Well, thanks anyway I guess...

I'm not sure why so much disappeared on my pages, but I figured out why my edits weren't appearing. On this particular page, for some reason, I didn't have APPROVE rights...so it was sitting there in Versions. Duh....

So far so good...no more little web page eating ghosts lurking...I hope. :-)
