Background images in Superfish Nav

If I use my own css based navigation on my page, will it still update when I add new pages etc?

Can you use background images in Superfish?

if you set a custom template on a block in page defaults, that custom template will stick.

if you're willing to do custom template work on superfish you can probably do what you're talking about, but theres no UI for it in the block itself
