backgroundcolor with device visibilty

Hi,
I'm using Concrete5 v.5.7.5, with the Elemental theme.

I gave background colors to different kind of blocks (text block, sitewide header navigation, auto nav etc).
For some blocks, i don't want them to be visible on a certain device.
I can set the visibility of a certain block (in design layout), depending on the device that is used, to visible or unvisible.
But, when i select one device on which the block must not be visible (let's say on mobile), the background color dissapears on all the other devices (laptop, desktop) where the block must be visible!
The text or navigation in that block remains visible (as it should)

Does anyone have an explanation why this works this way?
(and how to prevent this happens)

when searching (a little better...) on the forum, i found that some others mentioned this problem.
It seems that i have to upgrade tot 5.7.5.3?
Or is there another way for fixing this problem?

MrKdilkington,

the website adress is http://www.smaeckinstituut.com

I have the backgroundcolor problem also when only using the sitewide navigation header.
(so visibilty turned on for every device)

How are you applying visibility?

'display' or 'visible'?

Steevb,

I don't edit CSS files manually in this case.
When editing a block, i can select DESIGN AND LAYOUT (i use the dutch languagepack, so i don't no exactly how it is called in English, sorry for that)
There you can pick shadow and rotation, and is also the selector for DEVICE VISIBILITY.

Sorry, should have read post properly?

All works for me with version 5.7.5 when clicking a block and using 'Design & Custom Template'.

But I cannot see the options on versions 5.7.5.1 or 5.7.5.2, strange?

One thing I did notice is your images are very large and heavy, had to wait a while for them to download and render. I taken the liberty of changing a couple for you, see attached.

A program I use to optimise images, if it helps, is : http://photoscape.org

Steevb,
Thanks for your reply.

Yo are right about the image file size.
This site i'm bulding for a client, and the images are provided to me to have "some" content.
When everything works right, the client will fill the site with actual content.
At that point they will take care to use compressed size for pictures.

To make troubleshooting your issue more clear, can you describe the steps to recreate the problem using an example. This will allow Steevb and I to see if we can confirm it.

MrKDilkington,

I attached a screencapture video, hope you can open it.
In the video you can see how i place a new block (auto nav) and what i do to get a background color, and what happens to that background when i select a device (un)visibility.
Hope it gives a idea whats wrong and how to solve it.

My workaround was to click in the block and click ‘Design & Custom Template’ then add a background colour and save. Next I clicked on the column tab under blcok and clicked ‘Edit Area Design’ then clicked on the ‘mobile’ image and saved. All working for me now, see if it works for you.

SteevB,

Thanks for that workaround!!

It works when you make a column, and click on the column tab within te main section.
It doesn't work clicking on the main tab and the header. (probably because then you don't have any website left to show...).
But i also can't make a column(tab) in the header section, and can't do the trick when clicking on the Sitewide header navigation tab.

So thanks again for this workaround, because it helps me to achive most part of what i want.

greetings
Jurgen.
